Separation of Valuable Metals in The Recycling of Lithium Batteries via Solvent Extraction

With the development trend and technological progress of lithium batteries, battery market is booming, which means that consumption demand for batteries has increased significantly, and, therefore, a large number discarded will be generated accordingly. Solvent extraction promising approach because it simple. low in time easy to industrialize. This paper focused on selective recovery cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn) contained leachate obtained by digesting cathodic material from spent with hydrochloric acid. After leaching material, Mn was selectively extracted using solvent D2EHPA diluted kerosene an optimized condition. Afterward, Co Mn-depleted aqueous phase Cyanex272 kerosene. Finally, raffinate via stripping reaction H2SO4 used Ni experiments. extractant employed separate Li. The process can recover more than 93% Mn, 90% Co, Ni. crucial recovered form sulfuric acid solutions purified returned manufacturer use. proposes complete recycling method effectively recovering extraction, contribute supply raw materials reduce tensions related mineral resources production batteries.
